To know what capacity of BLUE GATE UPS is suitable for you, kindly contact our customer service representative on 0700BLUEGATE to get a Load Assessment and advice on which capacity of UPS is suitable for you.
The UPS is meant to provide immediate backup and protection to connected load(s) when utility power supply fails or become faulty. The backup time is just sufficient to sustain the connected load to allow the user to power on other alternative power supply (generator) when public utility mains fails or safely shut down connected load. The UPS is not designed to always backup load until battery becomes empty because this extreme usage affects the lifespan of the UPS batteries.
When the battery can no longer backup as required, it should be replaced.
BLUE GATE has 2 categories of UPS. These are on-line UPS, and Line- Interactive UPS.
1, On-line UPS:
This type of UPS has zero transfer time during power failures. It implies that the output power from the UPS remains as pure sine wave without any blink when Utility power is switched off or on. So, the output power quality is suitable for very sensitive equipment that requires no voltage fluctuation or breaks like Servers, Medical equipment, Telecommunication equipment, etc
2, Line-interactive UPS:
This range of UPS is designed to backup load during power failures with a minimal transfer time that is usable by basic home and office appliances.
BLUE GATE UPS can be used for most appliances or equipment especially those which should not be interrupted when they are in operation, such as TV, medical equipment, computers, elevators, security system, etc. it should be noted that for any choice of load, the capacity of the particular UPS should not be exceeded.
UPS stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply.
BLUE GATE UPS provides a backup power supply to your appliances or equipment when there is a power failure to enable you switch on another source of power supply like a generator without interrupting the operation of your appliance.
The UPS is there to prevent immediate loss of power when light suddenly goes out and it is advisable to turn off the UPS if loss of direct power is prolonged or when going out to preserve the battery.
BLUE GATE UPS battery has an average lifespan of 2-3 years. However, the lifespan of a battery depends strictly on the usage of the Battery in terms of discharge time, discharge load and recharge time.
The BLUE GATE UPS provides a pure sine wave form for its output. This is same as the output from utility power which most appliances/equipment use for operations.
The UPS should be connected to main utility supply to charge for at least 24 hours before first usage. This initial charge boosts the UPS battery after being left uncharged during the periods of shipment from factory.
BLUE GATE UPS is designed to work with either internal or external battery.
The UPS with internal batteries contains one, two or more pieces of Blue Gate batteries designed to fit the capacity and shape of the UPS. These are usually for lower capacity UPS like BG650VA, BG1200VA, etc
For the BLUE GATE UPS designed with external battery compatibility, the batteries are to be installed by qualified engineers and technician in a protective cabinet to feed the UPS eg BG6.2LF, BG10.2LF, etc
We have a highly responsive service center where all BLUE GATE products are repaired.
You need the BLUE GATE UPS:
To prevent interruption of operation of your appliances and equipment when there is power failure from utility power supply.
To prevent electrical surges that may affect or destroy your appliances or equipment if connected directly to the power sources.
For its inbuilt AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) which protects your appliances and equipment from electrical voltage fluctuations from public utility power supply or generator
Yes. While it is recommended that you keep the inverter as close to the batteries as possible, the load can be connected with an extension cord and located up to 200 feet away without signal loss.
Yes, computers and laptops can be used with an inverter.
It can power these devices but the capacity of the inverter should not be exceeded. So check the power rating of your load and be advised.
To determine the right inverter capacity for you, kindly contact our customer service representative on 0700BLUEGATE to get a load evaluation after which you can determine what inverter capacity will best meet your needs. Please download the Inverter Load Chart to compare our Inverter offerings.
It is advisable to have your inverter installed by a qualified engineer/technician. Contact our customer service to help you arrange for our technician for your installation 0700BLUEGATE
BLUE GATE inverter contains an intelligent battery charger that does all the battery management. The Intelligent charger controls the charging rate hence to avoid over charging and extreme discharge of the battery. So, the issue of Overcharging is taken care of.
A solar inverter converts DC power from solar panel to AC power.
It contains the solar charge controller that maximises the use of the sun in charging connected batteries as well as protecting the solar panels from damages from overload and battery return current.
BLUE GATE Solar inverter comprises of Solar inverter and Charger.
BLUE GATE Solar inverter works with Solar as well as AC power supply. It is a Hybrid Solar inverter.
An inverter converts DC (battery) power into AC power. BLUE GATE Inverter is an integration of both inverter and charger. The charger charges connected batteries when AC power is available. When AC power is not available, BLUE GATE inverter supplies power to connected load from the battery(ies). When in use and AC power is available, the load is powered through conditioned supply from the inverter. If the AC power fails, the inverter automatically backs up the loads from the battery power uninterruptedly.
During an outage, BLUE GATE inverter will transfer from utility to battery power in about 8 milliseconds or less.
The runtime (i.e. amount of time that the inverter will power connected appliances without Utility power or generator) depends on the amount of battery power available and the power consumption of the connected load(s). In general, as you increase the load (e.g., plug in more equipment) your runtime will decrease.
This all depends on the power your appliances consumes and your battery capacity.
The efficiency of the solar system depends on the intensity of the sun. This reduces when the weather is dull.
Yes. When Utility power is available, the inverter/charger conditions AC power before passing it to your equipment and simultaneously charges connected batteries. When the Utility power is not available (during power failures), the inverter/charger automatically switches to battery power and your equipment continues to operate without interruption.
Every inverter is designed with particular DC Voltage specification. The DC specifications determine the number of batteries to be used. E.g. A 24VDC Inverter requires two (2) pieces of 12Volts batteries (24VDC/12V, 12V=voltage of one battery) i.e. the Inverter DC Voltage divided by the voltage of the battery. This formula applies to all inverters.
All electrical appliances can be used on the inverter but the load should be kept within the inverter capacity to avoid overloading. The power rating of the inverter is written on the product label and the user manual of the inverter.
DC power: This is the electric power gotten from battery and Solar panel. It is used to power DC gadgets like inverter, mini-radios, rechargeable appliances, etc
AC Power: This is the electric power gotten from public Utility supply or power generators. It is used for all home appliances (eg radios, TV, fridge, lighting, etc), Industrial equipment, etc.
All AC devices are made to run on sine waveform power supply. Pure sine wave inverter produces a pure form of the sine waveform that is suitable for the operation of AC appliances. Modified sine wave inverter produces a waveform that tries to mimic the pure sine wave but not the same. Modified sine wave outputs causes connected inductive loads to hum and works less effectively. Modified sine wave inverters are less expensive. However, many sensitive electronic devices require the exact replica of AC power that a Pure sine wave inverter produces.
A resistive load does not require extra power at start-up eg Electric iron, etc whereas an inductive load requires extra power (called inrush current) at start-up e.g Air Conditioner, freezers, fridge, Fan, etc…
Inverter converts battery energy to Alternating current while UPS provides immediate backup and protection to connected load(s) when utility power supply fails.
It takes energy from battery and inverts it to AC when Utility fails. Our Inverter and solar inverter is designed to have the UPS function.
